How pricing carries forward on Upgrade, Downgrade, and Swap subscription changes

What the upcoming release changes about how price tags and discounts carry forward on subscription changes, and the settings to turn on so your pricing stays the same.

An upcoming Nue release changes how pricing carries forward when you upgrade, downgrade, or swap a subscription. This article explains what is changing and the short review we recommend so your pricing stays exactly as it is today.

This applies to you only if your tenant contains any active or draft Upgrade, Downgrade, or Swap product relationship. If it does not, no action is needed.

Where to find your product relationships

  1. Go to Price Builder > Product Relationships.

  2. Open and edit your Upgrade, Downgrade, and Swap relationships to review their settings.

What's changing

Today, whether a subscription's price tags and discounts carry onto the new product is governed by your account-wide Change Order Pricing Logic (COPL) settings.

In the new release, this is controlled more precisely by three settings on each individual product relationship:

  • Carry forward source Price Tags

  • Carry forward source Discount Tags

  • Carry forward source Discounts

These three settings are defaulted to Off in every tenant when the release goes live.

Why this matters: Without action, a subscription change made after the release could re-price the new product at current list price instead of preserving your negotiated pricing.

What we recommend

Find your current COPL configuration in the table below, then turn on the matching settings on each of your Upgrade, Downgrade, and Swap product relationships. This keeps your pricing behaving exactly as it does today.

Note on Same Price Swap

Swap relationships set to Same Price Swap do not use these carry-forward settings and can be left as they are. The Same Price Swap capability supersedes these settings and, by default, copies over the Net Sales Price from the previous product or bundle before the Swap.

Timing and help

Complete this review before the new release reaches your tenant, so your pricing is preserved on the first subscription change afterward.
